Listing Info Roche is the world leader in in vitro diagnostics (IVD) and tissue-based cancer diagnostics and a front runner in diabetes management. Roche Sequencing is seeking a talented developer to lead the software team within Bioinformatics to build, optimize and maintain a computational environment to enable the approval of next-generation sequencing (NGS) IVDs. This position requires an adaptable developer to address the many demands of formalizing prototype software, supporting a computational environment and working with multiple stakeholders across disciplines and departments. The position will play a critical role for the development and approval of NGS-based tests. Responsibilities
  • Build and manage a team to address the software needs for Bioinformatics within Roche Sequencing.
  • Formalize existing or prototype Bioinformatic workflows to achieve a more efficient, reusable and validated code base.
  • Be flexible and adaptable with different user requirements, levels of user experience and programming languages.
  • Establish and maintain software development standards and best practices for a range of applications for a diverse user base.
  • Establish or adapt specifications for data processing, visualization and user experience.
  • Work with Bioinformatics, Quality and Regulatory for designing, implementing and supporting validated software.
  • Adapt or implement workflows to operate in a high performance computing infrastructure.
  • Liaison with IT, bioinformatics and scientists to support the computational environment in a light-weight sequencing facility.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with software architecture, genomics-based pipelines, data management and supporting a dynamic codebase in a regulated environment.
  • Expert knowledge of software systems for version control and project management.
  • Proficient with Linux system administration.
  • Familiar with quality systems and the design control process.
  • Familiar with R (Bioconductor).
  • Familiar with LIMS applications and support.
  • MS in computer science or a related field but a Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Experience building and / or managing a team.
  • Must be comfortable providing leadership in a competitive landscape and operating independently with incomplete information.
