Job Description:

As our business continues to grows, Product Technical Support team is seeking to bring on a new a technical lead who will interact and collaborate with multiple departments including R&D, Quality, manufacturing and commercial teams. The team is highly collaborative, innovative, engaged and focused on customers. This is a dynamic career opportunity for a Scientist with a passion for troubleshooting, problem solving, and manipulating/analyzing large amount of data. Leverage your experience with manufacturing processes and implement new methods to track and trend information to identify root cause for failure modes on this high visibility position.

This position is responsible for planning, executing and analyzing scientific experiments leading to development and integration of new molecular diagnostic assays and manufacturing process improvements for molecular diagnostic products. Specifically this individual works cross-functionally with Marketing, Customer Technical Support, R&D including Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing and other functions to troubleshoot, investigate to root cause, develop solutions and implement product and process improvements. The individual also provides stability testing for new products and surveillance testing for on market products.

-Initiates, directs and executes scientific research and/or development strategies.

-Identifies and solves problems in experimental designs.

-Investigates, creates, and develops new methods and technologies for project advancement.

-Experienced in manipulating large amounts of data to provide succinct information based on the data.

-Establishing database tracking and trending information and analyzing data.

-Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters.

-Has appreciable latitude for action and decision making.

-Integrated results with project objectives.

-Failure investigation/product reliability activities based on field performance issues, as well as manufacturability or internal quality needs.

-Independently plans and designs experiments; critically analyzes complex data.

-Can act as technical lead for a development project and regularly interfaces with other R&D groups to coordinate product development and improvement.

-Maintains high level of expertise through scientific literature and competitor products.

-Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies.

-May supervise junior associates in daily experiments & troubleshooting.

-May contribute toward or produce invention disclosures, patents and publication.

-Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring significant originality and ingenuity.

-Responsibility of owning and leading projects.

Key Qualifications & Experience Requirements :

Education and Experience:

-BS/MS or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Bioinformatics or a related field.

-Based on level of degree achieved- BS ten (10+) years of experience; MS five (6+) or PhD one or more (3+) years of experience as a scientist in molecular diagnostic product development, manufacturing technical support.

-Familiarity with JMP Software a plus.

-Established technical expertise; serves as a resource to other groups.

-Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of a particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments.

-Demonstrates competence in data analysis, research design and the evaluation of new techniques and procedures for products, systems or technologies.

-Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize and handle multiple changing projects and priorities.

-Proven ability to provide work direction to junior associates.

-Proven ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment.

-Must be a hands-on, self-directed, organized and conscientious individual.

-Must be able to think and work both tactically and strategically to provide operational needs to GenMark’s business.

-Effective analytical problem solving and decision making skills.
