Job Description:
Maverick Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Computational Biologist to participate in the discovery and development of novel therapeutics that mobilize the immune system against cancer while protecting healthy tissue. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President of Research and Development. This role will lead our target identification and will work closely with project team leaders to progress therapeutic candidates from early discovery to IND-enabling studies. We are looking for exceptional candidates to join our multidisciplinary team in an exciting and dynamic R&D environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain bioinformatics core infrastructure.

2. Lead implementation of computational solutions for mining cancer genomics and proteomics data to identify novel targets.

3. Work within an interdisciplinary team of molecular and cell biologists, and protein engineers on developing methods for analysis and interpretation of genomics and proteomics data.

6. Develop -omics data management, integration and exploration solutions to enable data mining and utilization across the company.

7. Maintain expertise and awareness in state-of-the-art cancer genomics and proteomics science, computational biology methods, and relevant external genomics data sources.

8. Actively seek, evaluate and champion the adoption of new approaches to expand team’s capabilities.

Requirements:

1. Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, biomedical engineering, computer science, or related field with 5+ years of working experience in cancer genomics, oncology drug discovery or translational medicine.

2. Demonstrated ability to move –omics study output into well formulated and actionable hypotheses such as new target or biomarkers.

3. The ideal candidate will have biopharmaceutical industry experience with a focus in immuno-oncology and/or tumor protease biology.

4. Up-to-date knowledge of cancer genomics and proteomics initiatives, data sources, and best practices.

5. Good understanding of statistical analysis principles with working knowledge of the statistical data analysis tools and packages.

6. A demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement.

7. Experience leading projects and working with cross-functional teams.

8. Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

9. Ability to lead teams in a cross-functional work environment is critical; strong leadership skills and ability to work independently are expected.
