Job Description:
Utilize bioinformatics tools to assist laboratory/department with analysis, interpretation, and result reporting of clinical Next-Generation Sequencing data.

Responsibilities:

  • Bioinformatics pipeline development – e.g. variant calling, variant annotation, copy number analysis, gene expression analysis, and gene fusion identification.
  • Assist in bioinformatics data analysis and validation of bioinformatics pipelines.
  • User interface development – improve existing and create new user interfaces in Python/Django-based web applications, identify process improvements.
  • Improve and manage software testing and error handling for bioinformatics pipelines and web applications.
  • Assist in software deployment and improving software deployment plans.
  • Troubleshoot Next-Generation Sequencing server hardware and software problems.
  • Effectively document and communicate pipeline development, maintenance, and validations.
  • Maintain track of technical and professional development, including but not limited to attendance at seminars/webinars and participation in educational programs and activities.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Utilize bioinformatics tools to assist laboratory/department with analysis, interpretation, and result reporting of clinical Next-Generation Sequencing data.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • MS degree or equivalent education in bioinformatics or related discipline required.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, Python scripting, and some system administration experience is required.
  • Experience with software development is preferred.
