Job Description:
Summary of Job Duties:

A full-time Research Associate position is available in the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Arkansas. The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting bioinformatics-based research in molecular plant-fungal interactions. This position will be funded through competitive grants, and thus the position will be available until 12/30/2018.

Minimum Qualifications:

A M.S. degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field of study or a B.S. degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field of study plus three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least one year of additional job experience in microbial bioinformatics. Advanced expertise in bioinformatics, including fungal genome and transcriptome sequencing. Prior research experience with Dothidiomycetes fungi, particularly Cercospora spp. Experience analyzing data pertaining to fungal population biology. Track record of publishing relevant results in peer-reviewed journals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

This position requires experience and knowledge in fungal functional genomics, bioinformatics, molecular genetics, and general concepts in molecular biology and microbiology. Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets pertaining to microbial genomics. Prior experience with plant-fungal interactions is also required.
