Salary: Grade 6, £28,098 - £31,604 / Grade 7, £34,520 - £38,833 per annum

Research Position in Genetics of stroke

A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr.Tom Van Agtmael (Glasgow). This post is funded by the MRC and will form part of a newly established collaboration with the University of Edinburgh and Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard University and several UK Universities. This post will investigate the genetic basis of haemorrhagic stroke in the general population with the aim of identifying putative risk variants for further functional analysis. This post will involve in silico analysis of large sequencing datasets encompassing sequencing and GWAS quality control, genetic association studies, genome annotation and bioinformatic testing of variants.

This position demands a dynamic and driven individual willing to interact with a global network of research collaborators. Working visits to Boston will likely occur.

Applicants should have a post graduate degree in Genetics/Bioinformatics with exceptional computer skills. Knowledge of genetics, vascular biology, stroke is desirable. The successful applicant will have an outstanding academic track record commensurate with their career stage and experience. The position is available to take-up immediately and has funding for up to 12 months.
