Job Description:
SSS is seeking a Research Assistant I who will work on a data curation project for an NIH client for placental research.

Responsibilities:

Work with Principal Scientist on the following:

-Conduct biomedical literature reviews from sources including PubMed

-Read placental research literature and extract relevant data

-Organize data tables, figures, and references

-Review extracted metadata and data for accuracy and completeness

-Format study data to be processed through bioinformatics pipelines

-Utilize Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning resources

-Utilize controlled vocabularies and ontologies

-Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Progress toward or completion of Bachelor/Master's degree in molecular biology, developmental biology, genetics, immunology, bioinformatics, or related fields.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

-Background in biology, cell/molecular/developmental biology, genetics/genomics, or related field.

-Highly developed organizational and analytical skills with ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

-Experience with data extraction software tools.

-Good interpersonal/communication skills.

-Knowledge of computers and biomedical databases.
