In this role, you will be delivering high quality genetic and genomic data, ensuring accessibility through tools and analytics, while implementing new and impactful platforms and technologies. Research Associate job duties:
- Support vegetable sequencing pipeline by coordinating between stakeholders, lab partners and data analytic and curation teams
- Insure communication and consolidation of sequence and reference data for breeding and Discovery Genetics & Genomics
- Accelerate vegetable native trait project deliverables by manipulating large genomic data sets, perform meaningful statistical inferences and summarize in written/oral form
- Provide innovation to vegetable bioinformatics pipeline by developing genotypic data analytical tools to be leveraged by team and collaborators
- Contribute towards native trait and gene editing projects through phenotypic and genotypic data collection and analysis.
- Bachelor’s Degree with two to three years of experience in genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics or a related field
- Experience with MS Office Word, Excel, Access, Office365, SharePoint
- Experience with data manipulation, demonstrating experience with SQL, R/Python, or Spotfire
- Highly self-motivated, detail oriented and innovative to provide operational excellence
- Proven project management and organizational skills
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills to collaborate effectively with international, interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to coordinate information flow between lab and stakeholders and problem solve to meet business needs
- Master’s Degree with experience in genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics or a related field
- Experience with vegetable crops, plant genomes, large sequence data sets, molecular markers and bioinformatics tools.
- Experience with command-line tools and scripting.
- Knowledge and experience in experimental design, statistical analyses and relevant plant breeding software applications.
- Ability to deliver innovative and creative solutions to complex problems
