Job Description:
The incumbent will work under the direction and supervision of the principal investigator and the lead scientist to provide bioinformatics and computational biology support for various research projects, grant proposals and manuscript preparation, focusing on translational epi/genomics of gastrointestinal cancers (for details visit the Grady Lab website .) Adherence to principles of reproducible research, motivation to keep up with cutting-edge data analysis tools, and willingness to team-work in multi-disciplinary research programs will be vital to success in this position. The laboratory is situated in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch.

  • Use R/Bioconductor to perform proper QC, normalization and transformation of Illumina Human Methylation array data and perform basic statistical analyses
  • Support data collection, collation, and organization efforts in collaboration with experimental scientists, Shared Resources and external collaborators
  • Extract, harmonize, and analyze data from multiple repositories (TCGA, UCSD Genome Browser, Gene Expression Omnibus, COSMIC, dbSNP, 1000Genomes project, dbGaP etc.)
  • Present analysis results and methods to interdisciplinary scientific teams
  • Document workflows, software, and modules used in research and analysis
  • As needed: perform emerging data analysis tasks as required

  • The successful candidate will have a PhD in bioinformatics or related field with strong interest in cancer research.
  • A track record of excellent first author publication is essential.
  • Established experience in analyzing data from single-cell RNA seq, genome-wide DNA methylation and multi-omics, as well as network analysis is desirable.
  • A prior postdoctoral research experience in bioinformatics and biostatistics is a plus.
  • This position requires strong background in bioinformatics and biostatistics, experience in managing computing servers, proficiency in computer languages including R, Perl, Shell, C++, Python and MATLAB, ability to work independently and collaboratively, outstanding communication skills and interpersonal skills.
