Job Description:
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to join the research group led by Dr Andreas Bender at the Centre for Molecular Science Informatics at the University of Cambridge from 1 July 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter. The ERC-funded project will employ chem- and bioinformatics techniques for modelling the bioactivity of compound mixtures, based on chemical and biological descriptors in combination with machine learning techniques.

The research associate will be based at the Centre for Molecular Informatics (http://www-ucc.ch.cam.ac.uk/) in the Department of Chemistry, which is home to about 40 scientists in the cheminformatics and bioinformatics field. The research group of Dr Bender which the successful candidate will be based in currently comprises about 22 scientists, and mixture modelling of compounds will be a future focus area of research for the group in the near future.

Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a relevant PhD in the fields of cheminformatics, bioinformatics or related fields. Expertise in the area of bioactivity modelling of small molecules using chemical and biological descriptors and machine learning techniques is essential for the post. Previous demonstrated successful experience in leading projects and working in interdisciplinary teams would be advantageous.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 6 months or until 31 January 2019, whichever is the sooner.
