Job Description:
The Treatment Resistance Group, headed by Prof Gerhardt Attard, is seeking a Computational Biology Research Associate. Using state-of-the-art cellular, genomic and bioinformatics technologies the group has an interest in tracking tumour clone dynamics in patients with urological cancers. The project and candidate will focus on using novel approaches to interpret and intergrate genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic next-generation sequencing data obtained from cell-free DNA and tumour samples from patients in clinically-relevant prostate cancer cohorts with carefully annotated clinical follow-up data.

Duties and responsibilities of the post holder include but are not limited to: contribute in all phases of the project lifecycle, from study design to publication, identify and apply the most suitable computational methods to be used in the research project, evaluate available software and develop new bioinformatics tools if required.

The post is initially funded for 3 years.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in bioinformatics (or another related or quantitative discipline), or possess the equivalent experience.

Applicants must have demonstrable research experience in bioinformatics and excellent programming and scripting skills (e.g. R, Python, Perl, etc.). Experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data is essential. Experience of working in a Linux/UNIX environment and scripting is desirable. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.
