Job Description:
The Center Health Innovations and Outcomes Research (CHIOR) uses epidemiology, statistics and laboratory trials to uncover ways to improve how we deliver care; please click here to learn more about the dept. The incoming analyst would work on the design, development and implementation of data and intelligence-driven connected ICU that could improve outcomes for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). ARDS is a life-threatening form of respiratory failure that affects approximately 200,000 patients and resulting in nearly 75,000 deaths each year in the United States.

Responsibilities include:

  • Extracts patient clinical data from medical records or other sources containing patient clinical data.
  • Verifies and populates patient clinical data in designated databases.
  • Maintains consistency and integrity of data collection. Reports concerns regarding data integrity.
  • Analyzes and trends data. Prepares reports on trends.
  • Presents data and recommendations for process/performance improvement initiatives and quality management.
  • Assists with implementation of databases at health system hospitals. Trains staff on data capture and data entry.
  • Interfaces data from health system hospitals for reporting purposes; develops and analyses systems needed to obtain information or statistics vital to the research project.
  • Collaborates with the Krasnoff Quality Management Institute with database development and required modifications.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Basic Sciences or related field, required.
  • Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in computer science, bioinformatics, statistics or engineering preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years progressively responsible related work experience, including knowledge of research methods, basic statistics and data analysis.
  • Experience in the application of machine intelligence methods to large-scale healthcare datasets preferred
  • Experience in one or more areas including biomedical informatics, bioinformatics, computer vision, robotics, machine learning, deep learning, scalable computing and/or pervasive computing preferred
  • Experience in scientific computing using Python (pandas, scipy, numpy etc.), database technologies (SQL, NoSQL and time-series database) modern machine intelligence software packages (Tensor Flow, Theano, Open CV etc.), and statistical computing preferred
