Job Description:
Would you like to be part of the exciting activities of the MRC Medical Bioinformatics Centre in Leeds and its partner, the MRC Centre for Single Cell Functional Genomics? Do you have broad experience in biomedical, genomics and bioinformatics research? Do you have a passion for conducting biomedical research and delivering cutting edge outputs where the generation and analysis of data play a key role? You will contribute to a range of projects in fundamental and translational biomedical research intended to benefit human health and drive forward research. You will provide support to colleagues in both MRC Centres, working on experimental design, and providing specialist analyses for a variety of molecular, cellular and genomic biomedical questions. You will work closely on other faculites as well as with University experts in knowledge transfer for research and innovation. You will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant biomedical discipline and experience in the application of molecular genetic, and sophisticated cell and molecular biological techniques, to address questions of medical importance. This should be complemented by competence in the bioinformatics approaches necessary to achieve the aims of the MRC Centres. You will also have had previous experience in the commercial sector (particularly the pharmaceutical industry), so as to contribute fully to efforts by the MRC Centres to engage effectively with external partners. Previous experience in drug hunting and development, in the pharmaceutical industry is desirable. Contract Type: Fixed Term (1 year due to external funding)
