Job Description:
UES, Inc., has an opportunity available for a Research Scientist, focused in Bioinformatics, to support research at the Air Force Research Laboratory School of Aerospace Medicine. The successful candidate will utilize NextGen sequencing, RNA-Seq, miRNA, and other -omic datasets to derive insights into eukaryotic cell biological activity. The specific focus of this position will be in Synthetic Biology and Toxicology. Research will also include automating data analysis pipelines. Desired skills include the ability to write and automate analysis processes, mine public databases, analyze large datasets, utilize pathway analysis tools (e.g., DAVID, IPA, GSEA) and convey biological relevance through data visualization tools. The successful candidate will work independently to implement and develop bioinformatics tools to address Synthetic Biology and Toxicology research questions. Prior laboratory experience in more than one of these research areas would be advantageous. The selected candidate will document and present research progress in forms of reports, publications, and oral presentations.

Requirements:

Education:

BS or MS in Bioinformatics/Biostatistics/ Computational Biology or PhD in Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field of study.

Required Experience:

BS or MS with 5+ years of experience or Ph.D. with 1-2 years’ of postdoctoral experience in bioinformatics, or related field with a heavy emphasis in bioinformatics tools. Track record of demonstrated development/implementation of an -omics analytical pipeline, excellent communication skills including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

This position is working with in a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship.
