Job Description:
The computational biologist will join the research team at HLI and contribute to the innovative research and product offering at Health Nucleus. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development, optimization and implementation of new methods and processes for the analysis of human genomes. The analysis pipelines and applications will be based on existing tools and algorithms as well as newly developed solutions tailored to address specific research goals. This position will work closely with bioinformatics and machine learning teams.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Identify relevant external genomic data/knowledge resources, and execute integrated data mining analyses
  • Ensures up-to-date knowledge on role of genomics in diseases
  • Uses computational approaches to analyze diversity of human traits and diseases
  • Interface with Bioinformatics Scientists and Research Scientists
  • Participate in and drive scientific collaborations and publication efforts
Minimum Qualifications (Must have):
  • MS or PhD in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics, preferably with a focus on statistical analysis
  • Expertise in large scale genomics data analysis, and data and literature mining
  • Programming fluency in Python, R or similar languages, in a Linux environment
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent critical and analytical thinking with attention to details
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD degree with a strong publication record
  • Experience with data-driven statistical analysis of publicly available genomic datasets
  • Experience in a fast-paced start-up environment
