Job Description:
Global Patient Safety is an important factor in bringing life-changing medicines to the market; as well as building upon the safety profile during the life of the product. One of the key strategic goals of Lilly Global Patient Safety systems is to amplify the effectiveness of safety studies, by harnesses ongoing rapid information technologies, business intelligence, visualization and data analytics. The “GPS IT informatics Scientist” role will provide the technical leadership and, knowledge of leading technologies in Business Intelligence, Big Data, and Analytics, provides technology solutions and help define, drive and implement solutions that maximizes business value for Global Patient Safety and Regulatory Affairs for Eli Lilly and Company.

  • Utilize complex patient safety and regulatory data to discover novel information and patterns to get answers for more questions that are sophisticated around disease areas.
  • Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and /or use of standards with analytical methods.
  • Effectively use of data and information to drive positive business actions outcomes as driven by business intelligence.
  • Leverage data analysis and design to deliver business needs for data and information that is adaptable, extensible and sustainable.
  • Drive data integration to focus on the processes to acquire data from disparate sources, and consolidating it into an enterprise data resource and ensure data quality.
  • Create visual analytics, dashboards and reports leveraging the business data
  • Using analytic tools and scientific analysis to mine real world evidence from internal/external data sources.
  • Use internal and external data sources to deliver assimilated information and insights relating to safety studies hypothesis relating to patient stratification.
  • Evaluate proposed project ideas / software changes through technical impact analysis and estimated business value to influence decision-making.
  • Leverage expertise in LRL-IT Informatics. Collaborate closely with MD IT Architecture Office around analysis methodologies and its application in research and Medicine Development. Work with the IT application development group to help develop and implement solutions for data access and visualization for the broader Lilly scientific community.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technology and methods for analysis Ensure compliance with all applicable licenses and company guidelines regarding access and distribution of data, testing and validation practices, and documentation Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and /or use of standards with analytical methods.
  • Represent Lilly bioinformatics in external collaborations with both academic centers and commercial companies. Provide analysis or related support as needed in context of such collaborations. Facilitate bringing in data / know-how or learning into the broader organization.
Basic Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
  • PhD degree, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics computational or statistical sciences with 3+ years of experience in one or more aspects of bioinformatics. Postdoctoral training in related areas with expertise in computational methods, tools and databases utilized in data analysis, visualization and interpretation.
  • Experience in analyzing data generated and integrative analysis approaches to facilitate interpretation and hypothesis generation from patient safety case studies and epigenetics studies, preferably in a cross-functional setting.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • Proven ability to provide testable hypothesis to project teams based on systematic analysis of data
  • Expertise in a range of publicly and commercially available bioinformatics pathway/network analysis tools. Good bioinformatics programming skills in scripting or programming languages such as Tableau, R, Perl, Python, C/C++ etc. and related bioinformatics packages.
  • Technical Skills: Business intelligence analysts use complex computer programs to mine data sources and look for trends.
  • Experience with SQL, BI-Specific Software Knowledge and familiar with the processes of extract, transform and load (ETL) or online analytical processing (OLAP).
  • Experience with Mobile, Cloud, and Big Data, Data Warehouse/Mart, cubes
  • Analytical Skills: A major part of the job is to determine what data trends mean. Being able to analyze the data is crucial.
  • Problem Solving: Business intelligence analysts need to look at the data trends and recommend solutions for creating more revenue and reducing loss.
  • Experience working in regulated environments and with internal systems quality policies and procedures
