Job Description:
The Department of Biological Sciences and the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Texas at Dallas seeks a post-doctoral candidate for a research scientist position in the laboratory of Dr. Faruck Morcos. Work is done at the interface of structural biology, molecular evolution, biophysics and computer science. Informal inquiries can be made via email to Dr. Morcos (faruckm@utdallas.edu).

Minimum Education and Experience:

A minimum of a PhD in a field directly related to research and a minimum of two years of experience/expertise as noted below; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

PhD in Biological Sciences, Physics, Biochemistry, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field. Applicants should have experience and published record on structural biology, molecular evolution, biophysics, systems biology or statistical inference. Preferred experience includes information theory, machine learning and molecular simulation. Experimental experience on structural biology and biophysics is a plus but not required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform independent scientific research work in computational biology, write research publications, present results of research work at international and national conferences, mentor students and help organizational tasks in the PI’s Laboratory.
