Job Description:
Research Scientist with one of the best pharmaceutical companies in the world. This position will report to the Director of R&D in their Cellular Therapeutics department.

Summary
The Research Scientist will be responsible for leading and performing cutting edge human stem cell-based therapy research and development, data analysis, interpretation and documentation including regular report and paper generation, presentation of research progress, both written and oral. The successful candidate will lead and perform cell-based therapeutic R&D projects in accordance with Standard Procedures and be responsible for all associated record keeping and data entry. All procedures will be performed in accordance with departmental SOPs.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following
•Work within a matrix team to provide technical expertise for programs to define the cellular characteristics and functional utility of novel cell therapy in the immuno-oncology area.
•Independently design and implement appropriate experiments to define the function and mechanism of action for cell therapy product candidate(s).
•Conduct and facilitate gene, protein and function-based in vitro assessments of cell therapy product candidate(s) for immuno-oncology applications.
•Initiate, design and conduct progenitor cell expansion and differentiation experimentation.
•Initiate, design and perform advanced flow cytometry sample preparation and analysis.
•Provide scientific progress reports to the Project Team and/or Executive Management as required.
•Prepare and test samples in accordance with SOPs and GTPs, using good laboratory practice standards (GLPS) at all times.
•Maintain laboratory records and electronic files to support experimental studies and intellectual property development.
•Contribute to the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, including coordinating regular equipment maintenance and validation.
•Work in cross-functional teams and assist other staff members as necessary to complete divisional goals as required.
•Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with policies/procedures and OSHA safe laboratory practices.
Skills/Knowledge Required / Desired:
•Advanced knowledge of molecular and cellular biology, immunology, primary mammalian cell establishment, expansion and culture techniques including media formulation, growth factors, cytokines, and multi-cellular co-cultures is required.
•Proficient in immunophenotypic characterization using flow cytometry, gene expression analysis, and ELISA methods.
•Working knowledge of lymphocyte and leukocyte isolation and differentiation procedures, and immunohistochemistry techniques is highly desirable.
•Translational cell biology expertise with a focus on functional assessment of cell therapies in pertinent to patient sample handling and analysis is highly desirable.
•Must be goal oriented with the ability to work independently, ability to handle multiple tasks, and ability to prioritize.
•Ability to read, interpret, follow and design documents, such as SOPs and technical reports.
•Accuracy in judgment and ability to make decisions necessary for efficient operation of the department according to established department and institutional policies and procedures.
•Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisors and to train new staff members.
•Knowledge in various computer applications. Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.
•Knowledge of biostatistics and/or bioinformatics is required.
