Job DescriptionResearch Scientist, contract

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to support the Cellular Immunology group in Lead Discovery. The candidate will be the project lead responsible for the development and execution of novel in vitro assays to assess immunogenicity of biologics on dendritic cells and other immune cells. In addition, the scientist will contribute to the in vitro functional characterization of preclinical drugs for cancer immunotherapy. The successful candidate must have broad knowledge and hands-on experience in immunology research, be able to communicate and collaborate clearly with international partners, and work independently within a team-based environment.

The successful candidate is expected to:

Isolate and bank PBMCs from whole blood, maintain primary mammalian cell cultures, preferably with experience in dendritic cell cultureConduct multicolor flow cytometry and be proficient in data analysis using related software (FlowJo; FCS Express; MACSQuantify), sorting experience is preferredDevelop and validate cell-based assays to assess immunological function, including but not limited to proliferation and apoptosis assays, MLR, and cytotoxity assaysPerform ELISA/ELISPOT, Luminex/bead-based multiplex assays, Western or cell signaling assaysIsolate nucleic acids, perform qPCR and employ NGS and bioinformatics tools to characterize gene expression across large datasetsIndependently design experiments with clear deliverables to address specific and evolving scientific problems under aggressive but realistic timelinesCritically analyze data, interpret results and identify next steps; clearly communicate findings to a diverse audience and make recommendations to project teamsIndependently lead project meetings to ensure that deliverables and timelines are met; discuss plans with senior group members and provide timely progress updatesCoordinate internal research activities and interface with various external collaborators across international time zonesEnsure that laboratory notebooks are consistently updated, witnessed and well-maintainedKeep abreast of scientific and technical developments in immediate area of research through literature review

Minimal requirements :

D in a relevant discipline with 0+ years, M.S with 8+ years, or B.S. with 10+ years of laboratory experience with in vitro immunology researchExperienced in primary cell culture, immune cell assays, and proficiency in flow cytometryExperienced with bioinformatics tools and statistics for analyzing large biological datasetsHave excellent work ethic, demonstrate initiative and an interest in professional developmentEffective time management and flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced industrial settingGood working knowledge of flow cytometry data analysis software (ex. FlowJo, FCS Express) GraphPad Prism, and Microsoft Excel and PowerPointIndustry experience in immune-oncology is a plus
