Job Description:
We are searching for a highly-motivated, detail-oriented, reliable person to be hired in the status of Research Technician in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Pittsburgh. This position will involve data processing of NextGen Sequencing samples using command-line, Python, and R. In addition, this position will involve generation of samples for NextGen analysis from animal models, as well as appropriate sample processing and library construction for NextGen sequencing analysis. Sample generation will include isolation of tissues from animal models, cell stimulation, Magnetic Cell separation, flow cytometry, cytokine measurement, RNA and DNA isolation, and chromatin-immunoprecipitation for sequencing (ChIP-seq).

Competitive candidates will have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics and have demonstrated professional experience with many/most of the techniques above. Proficiency in command-line, bash scripting, Python and R languages are required. Some travel may be involved for training and conferences. Training in all relevant procedures will be conducted by experienced scientists within the research group. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
