Job Description:
Quest Diagnostics Inc. in Chantilly, VA seeks a Computational Biologist to plan, develop, and implement database structures, logic, and interfaces for service-oriented architecture and Web services in a clinical diagnostics laboratory environment. Use Java, J2EE, JDBC, Spring, and HTML to write architecture plans to create diagnostics data workflow solutions to communicate with business stakeholders and non-IT departments according to object-oriented analysis and designed (OOAD) architecture, modeling, and designing artifacts. Perform local development builds, application integration builds, and code merges. Utilize Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle to script new processes for projects related to next-generation sequencing data analysis (NGS), diagnostic testing development, validation, data quality review, and clinical reporting. Develop code and database solutions for new test development and provide support for codes and databases in the clinical operation for bioinformatics analysis pipelines and biological data sets. Develop unit tests and test scripts through software testing, regression testing, JUnit testing, and defect tracking to improve detect and resolve defects and improve quality of clinical results.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field, plus two (2) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience developing database structures and architecture plans for data workflow solutions, as well as programming with Java, J2EE, JDBC, and Spring. Experience must also include: one (1) year programming with HTML; and one (1) year developing software within a clinical diagnostics laboratory environment.
