Job Description:
Janssen R&D, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of companies, is recruiting for a Senior Scientist, Computational Biologist (Immunology Biomarkers) position within the Immunology therapeutic area, located in Spring House, PA.

This position is within the Immunology Biomarkers department Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) team. The role will involve working with the team to identify and develop biomarkers associated with therapeutic response, patient stratification, and disease monitoring. The candidate will analyze biomarker data sets, including transcriptomic, genetic, proteomic, and microbiome data generated in clinical or non-clinical studies. The position will require the analysis of multidimensional high content data sets, integration of these data sets with clinical metadata, and pathway analysis of differentially modulated biomarkers in these data sets. This role will also require strong communication and influencing skills as the scientist will sit on clinical trial teams working closely with functions such as clinical, data management, regulatory and global clinical operations to incorporate the biomarker strategy and operationalize all aspects of protocol development, sample collection and data generation/analysis.

The candidate must have strong analytical skills and experience with high-content data. Experience with predictive models and biomarker discovery is expected. Familiarity with human translational research, clinical studies, and patient samples is highly preferred. The candidate must have a background in biology or immunology and be proficient in the biological interpretation of data. Strong communication skills and the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders, service providers, and scientific collaborators is a requirement. He or she will be expected to represent the department on cross-functional teams and develop and implement biomarker strategies for compounds in the IBD pipeline.

Qualifications:

• Qualified candidates must have relevant experience in Computational Biology, Immunology, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics or a related field. A Ph.D. degree and 5 or more years of relevant experience are required.

• Strong computational skills and expertise in analyzing large datasets (e.g. transcriptomic, genetic, proteomic, microbiome).

• Proficiency in standard analytical platforms (e.g. SAS, R, Matlab, Omicsoft ArrayStudio).

• Experience in the integration of –omics datasets (e.g. genetic and microbiome) and expertise in predictive algorithms, biomarker discovery and/or diagnostic development.

• Proficiency in biology/immunology, preferably in autoimmune disease or IBD, and in the biological interpretation of data.

• Good communication and writing skills.

• Good organization skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously is essential.
