Description:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Be a key member of a team that develops bioassays and high throughput screening methods to support IPD’s metabolic engineering platform in microbial hosts.
  • Guide development of bioassays and high-throughput screening methods by drawing on previous experience with industrial product production.
  • Propose continual process improvements for efficiency and quality.
  • Work in partnership with other IPD teams (fermentation, assay development and screening, analytical) to advance projects.
  • Where appropriate, collaborate with external research and commercial partners to support externally funded projects and technology transfer.
  • Seek and qualify new technologies and techniques that will further advance/enable project goals.
  • Prepare technical reports and make clear and succinct scientific presentations that can be shared and transferred to and from cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to the development of new project concepts.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of current Bioindustrial/Metabolic Engineering literature.
  • Be a conscientious laboratory citizen, adhere to EH&S standards, set a positive standard for more junior colleagues.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • PhD (3+ years, preferred), MS (7+ years) or BS (10+ years) in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, chemical engineering or a related field.
  • Proven track record of accomplishments, preferably in the bio-industrial, life sciences, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
  • Experience in developing high-throughput assays for microbial strain development.
  • Experience with metabolic engineering for industrial product production.
  • Experienced mentoring junior scientists a plus.
