Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join the Inflammation Research Therapeutic Area at Amgen in South San Francisco to drive the discovery and validation of novel targets in inflammatory and autoimmune disease for the development of innovative medicines.

The candidate will be an integral member of the research team, collaborate with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and work closely with teams in other functional areas including Medical Sciences and Oncology.

In this position, the individual is expected to make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals and milestones of the Inflammation therapeutic area. Specific responsibilities include planning and performing laboratory experiments, preparing and analyzing biological samples, analyzing data and communicating results.

Basic Qualifications
- Master’s degree & 3 years of scientific experience
OR
- Bachelor’s degree & 5 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications
- Innovative and interdisciplinary approaches towards identification of mechanisms driving disease pathogenesis and novel targets

- Knowledge of Immunology and/or respiratory biology.

- Hands on experience in working with biological samples and an ability to critically analyze and present results.

- Expertise in immunological assays, biochemical and cell signaling assays, in vivo mouse models of inflammation, bioinformatics, imaging techniques or complex cell-based assays is highly desired.

- Knowledgeable, highly motivated, creative, and collaborative.

- Success in this position calls for excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment
