Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Bioinformatician to join our translational biomarker discovery efforts in the Target Validation / DNA Damage Repair Team, led by Professor Andrew Tutt in the Breast Cancer Now Centre at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), in collaboration with the Cancer bioinformatics group lead by Dr Grigoriadis in the Breast Cancer Now Unit at Guy’s Cancer Center and with Genomic Analysis group lead by Dr Cheang from the ICR Clinical Trials and Statistical Unit. Our research goal is to identify molecular biomarkers that can be integrated into clinical trials and predict clinical outcomes and response to a specific therapy.

The successful individual will work among a team of bioinformaticicans and will be in a key interface position within numerous projects in breast cancer, supporting initiatives lead by Drs. Grigoriadis and Cheang. The postholder will have strong experience with multi-omics data (including next generation sequencing (NGS) such as exome and whole genome sequencing, RNA-seq; nanoString nCounter analysis), and will be able to develop, design, run integrative informatics technologies, database management, and clinical association studies. It is essential to be able to communicate of findings to biologists, clinicians, etc., work independently and as part of a team.

Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, have scripting experience and must have a proficient knowledge of basic biology of breast cancer. It is desirable to hold a post-graduate qualification in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, statistics or a related field or have gained significant experience within bioinformatics role/s. The starting salary is expected to be within the range £43,438 to £51,104 p.a. inclusive, based on relevance of skills and experience. Potential progression on the full salary scale for exceptional performance only. The position will be offered initially on a fixed-term contract of three years and not exceeding an end date of 31st July 2020.
