Job Description:
The mission of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is to provide expert, compassionate care to children and adults with cancer while advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases.

Our Core Values are:

Impact - Above all else, we make a difference by relieving the burden of disease now and for the future through our research, clinical care, education, outreach and advocacy.

Excellence - We pursue excellence relentlessly and with integrity in all that we do, adhering always to the highest standards of conduct.

Compassion and respect - For those in our care and for one another.

Discovery - We foster the spirit of inquiry, promoting collaboration and innovation across traditional boundaries while celebrating individual creativity.

We are seeking an intelligent, hard-working, and dynamic individual to serve as a senior computational biologist and group leader for a cutting-edge cancer genomics research and clinical program.

About CCGD/Profile Cancer is a disease of the genome; effectively fighting cancer will depend on the successful application of genomics to the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. The mission of the Center for Cancer Genome Discovery (CCGD) at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) is to facilitate genome discoveries in human cancer through basic and translational research. CCGD is partnered with PROFILE, a joint effort of DFCI, Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), and Boston Children’s Hospital. PROFILE employs state-of-the art genomics technology to generate a detailed report of medically actionable genetic alterations in a CLIA-certified laboratory. These cancer genomic profiles are being used to guide patient treatment and/or stratification for clinical trials of novel anticancer agents.

Our Bioinformatics team is an integral part of CCGD and Profile, providing detailed analysis of genomic data. We develop novel approaches for the analysis of genomics data in a research context and translate those developments into clinical applications. We are looking to expand our outstanding team with a Senior Computational Biologist and Group Leader.

Role and Responsibilities: We seek an energetic and motivated Group Leader for our expanding bioinformatics team. The successful candidate will have proven experience managing a diverse team to deliver high quality and robust solutions in a timely manner. This position will lead the team’s R&D efforts and must work closely with the lab team in the design, testing, and validation of new analysis methods. Additionally, the Group Leader will assist collaborators with experimental design and interpretation and analysis of results.

Requirements: - Exceptionally deep computational and analytic abilities demonstrated by a top-tier Ph.D. in the life sciences with significant programming and algorithm development experience or a top-tier Ph.D. in math, physics, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience post-degree
- Prior experience leading a team of 3 or more members is preferred
- Experience evaluating and developing tools for the analysis of DNAseq or RNAseq
- Strong scientific background with prior experience in cancer biology and/or genomics
- Excellent communication and effective problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage a team within an environment with ever changing priorities.
