Associate Director, Senior Principal Scientist, Genomics

As part of the Translational Sciences Department, the Genomics Group in the Sanofi Genzyme R&D Center seeks a highly motivated genomics scientist / disease biologist to work in a dynamic and cross-functional team supporting genomics and translational research and therapeutic product development. Disease biology expertise sought in neurobiology or immunology. Main responsibilities are to provide data analysis and functional interpretation using a variety of molecular profiling data, including DNA and RNA sequencing, GWAS analysis and network biology. You will interact with research scientists on biomarker discovery, mechanism of action, and disease biology projects at every stage of the project, from experimental design to data analysis and interpretation. You will be expected to keep abreast of the latest systems biology analytics in the literature and collaborate with informatics engineers to benefit the internal analytic process. You will drive the generation and testing of hypothesis leading to new biological insights. You will decipher and interpret disease biology from genomics data leading a team of biologists specialized in genomics, molecular biology and cellular biology. You will be expected to effectively communicate analytical results with internal project collaborators through both presentations and one-on-one interactions.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
MS or Ph.D. degree in biological sciences and/or computational biology with both a strong quantitative and disease biology background with 5-10 years of experience in bioinformatics/genomic research and data analysis. Experience must include hands on analysis of next generation sequencing data, GWAS, and microarray data and expert use of relevant software. Working knowledge of biological knowledge bases and functional interpretation engines preferred. Team management experience desired but not necessary. Additional desired characteristics include: self-starter, faster learner, creative, hands-on, team player.
