Job Description:
We are seeking a highly-motivated scientist to uncover important biological and clinical insights from our database of over 150,000 sequenced, real-world tumor samples.

The role will analyze and interpret genomic alterations to support diverse external collaborations focused on drug development through data mining, hypothesis generation, and advanced genomic analysis. The role may also develop new analysis methods to be applied to cancer genomic profiling data. These applications require a strong ability to problem-solve, a deep knowledge of cancer biology, and the ability to effectively use scripting languages to interpret large sequencing datasets.

The ideal candidate is able to leverage his/her cancer biology knowledge to implement logical and biologically and/or clinically relevant computational analyses.

Responsibilities:

  • Work independently to perform molecular information analyses with external partners using post-pipeline variant calls.
  • Interpret data analysis results within the context of tumor biology and precision medicine, and contribute to downstream experimental design.
  • Effectively summarize, visualize, and communicate large scale data to diverse stakeholders who may not have bioinformatics expertise.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external collaborators and provide follow-up when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with internal colleagues to refine analysis algorithms and methods.
  • Contribute to broader projects within Research and Development and associated manuscripts and/or conference presentations as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Must have intermediate proficiency or higher in object-oriented programming (python, Java, etc). Extensive experience in R, Matlab, or other languages will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of next generation sequencing principles and its application to precision medicine.
  • Ability to incorporate genomic data into functional experimental validation or biomarker-driven studies.
  • Previous experience in cancer biology and/or oncology is preferred, but not required.
  • Must have strong knowledge of basic statistics.
  • Unsurpassed reliability, high ethical standards, meticulous attention to detail, and unparalleled integrity.
Education or Experience:
  • Minimum Ph.D. (or equivalent) in cancer biology, or a related field (e.g. molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics).
  • Bench-scientists using genomic data in their research are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Strong background in cancer biology, translational medicine, and large-scale data analysis.
  • Experience working with data from personalized medicine studies or publicly available sequencing datasets, such as TCGA or similar.
  • Track record of collaborations across industry and/or academia.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
