Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled individual with experience in data management, and analysis and interpretation of omics data from mammalian sources. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability and desire to work with large, complex teams of scientists. Experience with systems biology approaches to elucidate complex physiological processes leading to health outcomes in animals is an important skill. The successful candidate should have experience in analysis of DNA, RNA and protein sequences and utilizing software for pathway analysis.

Experience working in a high performance computing environment and managing all types of large, complex biological data is important. Most of these skills will be essential: large data management, next generation sequence assembly of DNA and RNA, mapping and analysis software, genotyping algorithms and variant detection, CNV analysis, systems biology and pathway analysis, and annotation software. Experience with high density SNP data handling and analysis and genome wide association studies knowledge are required. Understanding of genomic selection methodologies in domestic animals is a plus. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary teams working with diverse models and biological systems to enhance development of products offered by Zoetis. Critical thinking and analysis and presentation skills are essential.

The scientist will keep up to date with the latest developments in algorithms for analysis of next-generation sequencing and applications of sequencing and incorporation of large, diverse data into health solutions; especially for identification for disease targets, drug safety, immune responses and optimum performance of animals. Other responsibilities include giving internal and external presentations, keeping abreast of the latest developments in genomics and genome medicine, and maintaining external contacts. Knowledge of bioinformatics and specific knowledge of analysis of next generation sequencing is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Candidates with Ph.D. in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Animal Genetics, Veterinary Medicine or related fields will be preferred. Post-graduate experience analyzing and interpreting omics data is required.

Familiarity with various programming languages and software packages including: R, LINUX, CLC Genomics Workbench, GoldenHelix SNP & Variation Suite and Ingenuity pathway analysis IPA is desired.
