Job Description:
Your Impact: As a member of our Computational Biology team at Foundation Medicine, you will work with software engineers and computational biologists focused on the analysis of next-generation sequencing data to characterize genetic alterations and biomarkers in DNA and RNA. Together we will build and maintain robust pipeline infrastructure to run highly concurrent data-intensive analyses, enhance and optimize scalable data solutions, and develop web applications that enable global production operations on cloud deployed systems. You will be a key player who will create an agile infrastructure to help reduce turnaround time to patients. Qualifications: You are someone who has built large-scale data systems, designed and optimized complex queries, and written software spanning the entire tech stack. You enjoy the responsibility and accountability that comes with working on a small core team of engineers. Quality is second nature to you – you believe that untested code is not complete code and that software design and architecture are worth significant investment. You excel at providing insightful evaluations of new technologies and evolving business requirements. -8+ years of experience with Java with experience using frameworks including Spring, JPA/Hibernate, GWT, and Maven -Experience with Test Automation Frameworks (Cucumber preferred). -Python a plus. -Experience working with regulated Software a plus. -Cloud deployment exposure highly desired. -Strong understanding of architecture and design patterns. -Exposure to relational databases; SQL, database design, object-relational mapping (ORM), and query tuning. -Well versed in distributed computing, web services and web applications. -Exposure to version control systems (Git preferred). -Strong knowledge of Unix or Unix-like operating systems.
