Job Description:
This position will be filled by an experienced post-doctoral researcher fellow (PhD in Bioinformatics or related discipline) with experience in analysing high throughput DNA sequencing data. The post-doctoral research fellow will be responsible for handling, storing and analyzing human microbiome bioinformatic data. Analysis will involve determining the composition and functional potential of these microbial communities. The successful candidate will have considerable experience with respect to the analysis of DNA sequence data, especially of microbiota related data, and have an extensive publication record.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A PhD in bioinformatics, computer science or related discipline
  • Excellent laboratory skills, organization skills, report writing and data analysis
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experienced in analyzing metagenomic and transcriptomic large data sets
  • Proven record of scientific communications.

Location: Teagasc Food Research Centre Moorepark, Fermoy, Co. Cork.

Grade/Salary: SFI Experienced Post-Doctoral Researcher (Level 2B), with a starting salary of €43,394 per annum. The current salary scale is €43,394 to €47,255.

Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale per Government Circular E100/8/82. Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current or previous service in the public sector (including Teagasc).

Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government Policy.

Post Type: Temporary Externally Funded Non Grant-in-Aid contract post, the indicative duration of which is 60 months, subject to contract.

A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.
