Additional Info:
The Institute of Cancer Research, London, is one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes, with an outstanding record of achievement dating back more than 100 years. We provided the first convincing evidence that DNA damage is the basic cause of cancer, laying the foundation for the now universally accepted idea that cancer is a genetic disease. Today, The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) leads the world at isolating cancer-related genes and discovering new targeted drugs for personalised cancer treatment.

Under the leadership of our Chief Executive, Professor Paul Workman FRS, the ICR is ranked as the UK’s leading academic research centre. Together with our partner The Royal Marsden, we are rated in the top four cancer centres globally.

The ICR is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best minds in the world to join us in our mission – to make the discoveries that defeat cancer. Vacancy Description

The canSAR team is a multidisciplinary team focused on the development and provision of canSAR, the world's largest public cancer drug discovery resource. The team sits between the Department of Data Science, led by Dr. Bissan Al-Lazikani and the CRUK Cancer Therapeutics Unit - one of the leading academic drug discovery centres in the world. canSAR (http://cansar.icr.ac.uk/) integrates biological, genetic, chemical and pharmacology data for cancer research, and employs data science and machine learning approaches to inform the discovery of more effective drugs. canSAR is used by > 150,000 researchers worldwide, across both academia and industry. We have recently been awarded a 5-year CRUK Strategic Project Award to enhance and expand the content and utility of the public canSAR. Moreover, we will also create a unique drug discovery target assessment tool deployable across all CRUK Drug Discovery Units (DDUs).
