Job Description:
Agios Pharmaceuticals is focused on discovering and developing novel drugs to treat cancer and rare genetic metabolic diseases, through scientific leadership in the field of cellular metabolism. In addition to an active research and discovery pipeline across both therapeutics areas, Agios has multiple first-in-class lead product candidates in cancer metabolism and rare genetic, metabolic diseases in clinical and/or preclinical development. All Agios programs focus on genetically identified patient populations, leveraging our knowledge of metabolism, biology and genomics.
We are looking for a talented Software Development Contractor to join our Informatics team to develop the next generation of metabolomics data analysis software application.
What You Will Do
Collaborate with a team of scientists and developers to design, implement, and test a new web-based framework for analysis and visualization of high-throughput mass spectrometry metabolomics
Implement new functions and features, including state of the art algorithms for analysis of metabolomics data and integration of large data sets
Optimize performance and usability through testing, refactoring, and automation
Support, maintain, and help document software functionality
Maintain coding, compliance, security standards
What You Need for this Position
Expertise in developing responsive web-based data manipulation and visualization applications, with solid skills in PHP, Javascript with D3 and JQuery, HTML5 with CSS3
Experience with large databases, and cloud storage methodologies and best practices, particularly through AWS
Experience with collaborative software development projects
Experience in Linux and Windows environments
Self-motivated and able to work in a small team with minimal supervision
Good communication and organizational skills
BS in a technical discipline
3-5 years of applicable experience
Pluses:
Experiences with bioinformatics, biostatistics, biological data visualization
Knowledge of OMICS dataset and their analysis
Understanding of workflows in science research, and data management and analysis goals
Expertise in Oracle and Mysql
Expertise in Python, Java and Perl
Experience with Spotfire or other commercial data visualization platforms
Familiarity with LIMS and workflow management (Sapio’s Exemplar, StarLims, etc)
Experience with GeneData Screener or other software for analysis of high-throughput biological data
Advanced understanding of biology and chemistry
Experience with mass spectrometry
Experience with data management in drug discovery
