Job Description:
Responsible for the statistical design and analysis of clinical studies. Coordinate the use of standard and non-standard biostatistics or bioinformatics methodologies for the design of studies and the production of statistical analyses. Collaborate with other biostatisticians and investigators in the preparation of presentations and publications. Function largely independently to solve problems posed by clinical investigators with supervision of BIOS leadership and collaboration on methodologic research with faculty.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversee data management activities and quality control procedures at BIOS. Oversee coordination of inter-related BIOS projects from the perspective of assigned statistical and data management personnel. Consult with clinical investigators to determine their needs with respect to statistical design of studies and proposes appropriate designs. Recommend and carry out appropriate methodologic procedures for statistical analysis; overall descriptive statistics; exploratory data analyses, including graphs, summary statistics, and necessary transformations; and confirmatory data analyses, including statistical tests and/or models. Perform sample size and power calculations, generate randomization schema, and prepare statistical sections for research protocols and manuscripts. Collaborate with BIOS team members in all aspects of study/trial development, execution, and close-out. Prepare written reports of statistical analyses, including relevant statistical theory, references, methods, results, and conclusions. Draft and finalize statistical analysis plans. Make significant contributions of conclusive thought to publications. Write statistical design, methods, and analysis sections for research proposals. Write computer code to evaluate study designs and to accomplish the actual statistical analyses. Generate analytic data sets for approved studies. Interpret and analyze the results of statistical analyses. Prepare interim and final reports of studies. Discuss with colleagues, investigators, and faculty the need for any additional analyses and/or special methodological requirements. Work in partnership with senior investigators from the BIOS data and coordinating centers, as well as, serve as the primary analyst assisting clinical investigators. Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with study investigators and team. Prepare progress reports as needed. Participate on key scientific committees. Maintain appropriate systems for database associated management. Keep abreast of technical and academic resources related to the methodology of statistical analyses. Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):

Master degree in biostatistics, statistics, bioinformatics, mathematics, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of related experience. Proficiency with the statistical package SAS or STATA. Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Expert knowledge in programming reproducible statistical code for procedural-oriented statistical languages such as STATA, SAS, and R. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with scientific and clinical researchers. Excellent written and verbal skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to details. Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral level degree. At least five years' experience. Experience with R programming. Knowledge of other programming languages, such as C++, Python, or Java.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
