Job Description:
Overall responsibility for designing and delivering data analysis solutions to extract biological meaning from genomic data, including development of streamlined data analyses pipelines, assessment and adoption statistical tools and algorithms, data management, interpretation/visualization of genomic results and collaborating with medical staff and research investigators. Serve as core team leaders for advanced bioinformatics analysis in support of clinical and research programs and sequencing lab operations. Provides training for junior bioinformatics team members and non-computational scientists in implementation and interpretation of contemporary genomic assays.

Job Requirements:

· PhD preferred

· 5 years' experience (Bioinformatics, Computer, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Computational Biology or Biology)

· Significant experience in the next generation sequencing informatics and quantitative biology as well as handling of large datasets to achieve biological interpretation are quintessential for successful performance

· Statistical analyses and programming experience are necessary to provide analytical direction for projects and to guide collaborating scientists, clinicians and trainees

· Understanding of statistical analysis, Bayesian analysis, data mining, and machine learning necessary to provide expertise and leadership in the transformation of raw data into knowledge

· Teaching experience in areas of programming / statistical / bioinformatics analyses

· Significant domain knowledge of genomics as evidenced by co-authorship/lead-authorships of manuscripts published in highly cited journals; significant domain experience in human genome regulation; experience with Perl or similar scripting language; experience with relational database systems; experience with version control systems; experience with JUnit or similar test driven development frameworks. Significant experience with sequencing data and technologies, sequence analysis tools and methods, bioinformatics data formats and public genomic databases.
