Software development teams you’ve managed have a solid track record of bringing innovative, industry leading products to market. You take pride in leading highly skilled teams of engineers through architecture, design specification, development and code review activities. The right candidate will have a proven track record to design and build applications with an emphasis on infrastructure which are designed for scale. Additionally, the candidate will work closely with the Product Management and Architecture teams to establish and lead a world-class software development environment. - Manage, coach and mentor growing teams of software engineers
- Drive technical projects and providing leadership in an innovative and fast- paced environment
- Take responsibility for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects
- Technically lead definition of web-scale software architectures including managing design choices and trade-offs
- Establish and drive agile/lean software development best practices for complex, solution-level projects
- Work closely with product management teams to ensure we;re building the best product and shipping in a timely manner
- Must be able to evangelise our approach and solution in the industry
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
- 10-12 years of experience in senior engineering leadership roles with people and technical responsibilities
- Proven, successful track record of taking web-scale analytics software products from concept to market.
- Analytics software development experience with large scale data concepts such as data lakes, machine learning technologies/ big data analytics, and data acquisition methodologies using distributed databases (Apache Spark, Hadoop), IMDB (Redis, Hazelcast), SQL and NoSQL database systems,
- Experience implementing cloud-based distributed architectures on AWS, GCP, Azure, OpenStack and PaaS frameworks
- Hands-on coding experience with ability to technically lead design/ code reviews (Java, JavaScript, Angular.js, Web Services, REST/ JSON, Responsive Web Design)
- Deep understanding/expertise in web applications architecture and development, including application/infrastructure security, fault-tolerant design and large-scale distributed computing for genomic analytics software
- Good knowledge of modern open source frameworks for big-data analytics and machine learning
- Proven record in designing distributed, multi-component frameworks with comprehensive programming APIs and well-specified web services protocols.
- Experience leading large geographically distributed teams
- Biotechnology, medical device industry software development experience, a plus
