Job Description:
The Sr. LIMS Developer /Analyst is a senior member on the Research and Development Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications team. The Sr. LIMS Developer /Analyst will be accountable for leading Tier 3 support, staffing and operations for multiple COTS applications including overall delivery for Research and Development IT LIMS, ELN, Spotfire, CytoBank, and/or FreezerPro deployments to a broad user base.

The Sr. LIMS Developer /Analyst will work directly with research scientists and act as the liaison between programmers, information analysts, subject matter experts, data architects, and scientists to meet the needs of the end users.

The successful Sr. LIMS Developer /Analyst will ensure operational effectiveness of the Tier 3 support team. The ability to lead, manage, and resolve issues escalated by Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams will be essential to ensure the effectiveness of this role. This position will serve as the single point of contact for Tier 3 support leading deployments, upgrades, fixes, and other critical tasks, including liaising with and managing other vendors to maintain client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolve technical and process related questions including troubleshooting errors and performing root cause analysis to determine problem groups to improve operational efficiency.
  • Engage with Research and Development scientists to understand their business needs and proactively recommend solutions.
  • Assess and provide resolution for issues escalated by team members. Esclate matters that are unable to be resolved to the Head of Research and Development Commercial Off-The-Shelf Systems as required.
  • Develop and grow knowledge of core business areas within Regeneron.
  • Customize and adapt people, process, and technologies to optimize solutions for scientific business areas.
  • Establish a working understanding of Regeneron’s business and operational processes for Tier 3 support.
  • Design solutions to enhance existing systems to address present business demands.
  • Design metrics for Tier 3 support to enhance continuous improvement to efficient DevOps operations.
  • Manager Tier 3 support vendors and review deliverables for contract adherence.
  • Assess Tier 3 vendors against published SLA performance standards.
  • Coordinate the delivery of functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Ensure all requested configurations are done promptly and follow the principles of best practice.
  • Leverage operational improvements to decrease total cost of ownership and maintenance of existing applications, technologies, and products to support Tier 3 functions.
  • Decrease severity and volume for Tier 3 escalations through education and proactive root cause analysis.
  • Support the site change control process to ensure the integrity of the COTS systems.
Collaboration:
  • Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with members of all Tiers of the organization.
  • Support the Tier 3 site change control process to ensure the integrity of the COTS systems.
Minimum Years of Experience: Please be as specific as possible.

Required:

  • 3+ years’ experience managing technical resources and business analysts leveraging IIBA best practices.
  • 3+ years’ experience as product owner or similar for data visualization, Electronic Notebooks and LIMS platforms or other scientific data management environments.
  • Proven hands-on software configuration and deployment experience.
Preferred:
  • Advanced degree (chemistry, biology, bioinformatics, information technology or similar discipline). Masters degree is a plus.
  • Pharmaceutical or biotech experience, e.g., experience working in a laboratory or biological environment (for Research only).
  • Practical experience using languages such as .Net, JAVA or Iron Python .
  • Experience with Zebra printers, barcode scanners, and experience with Nautilus LIMS, IDBS ELN, TIBCO Spotfire, Ruro FreezerPro, and CytoBank.
  • Practical knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems, Electronic Notebooks, Data Visualization Plateforms, Manufacutring Execution Systems and integration technologies.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence Agile (for Research only)

Requirements:

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Solid track record as a successful product owner or similar role for a LIMS, ELN, Data Visualization and/or Flow Cytometery platform and the associative environments.
  • Knowledge of the principles of object-oriented design and analysis and the benefit of applying common design patterns.
  • Understanding of how the BioPharma industry works, and design solutions and enhancements to the system such that business needs are met.
  • Experience with Iron Python or .Net is a plus.
  • Perform risk management by assessing the current and potential risks within the Tier 3 support team and assocated activities
  • Anticipate where deviations from plans may occurn and propose scenarios working in alignment with leadership to mitigate these risks.
  • Conduct end user and super-user training.
  • Develop, update, and implement training materials as necessary.
Leadership:
  • Supervise Tier 3 team and coordinate involvement with business relationship managers (BRMs) and scientific business analysts (SBAs).
  • Lead critical project activities including business process improvement, business capability assessments, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, facilitate requirements brainstorming and sessions.
  • Provide peer reviews for modifications to impacted COTS systems.
  • Articulate a compelling vision and motivate the Tier 3 teams to achieve individual, team and organizational objectives.

  • Suggest new ideas for innovative, efficacious services, products, or scientific interactions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities in a science-based research environment.
Skills/Tools:
  • Understand current business analyst tools and technologies for practical requirements elaboration.
  • Review and approve information technology and business changes in their respective change management systems.
  • Hands on experience working with relational databases and SQL (preferably Oracle RDBMS and MySQL).
  • Strong technical problem solver who understands a broad range of issues from the database, network, application, user and vendor related issues that have the potential to impact COTS operations.
