Job Description:
Digicon is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to guide our strategic technology and genomics research direction. The selected candidate will contribute to our genomic solution of services that accelerate the ability to perform research ultimately leading to new discoveries. Our team is responsible for leveraging new technology such as Hadoop to realize performance improvements while ensuring an open, flexible analysis platform is in place to meet the computational and storage needs of researchers. This is a key position as we introduce our solution to the market.

The Senior Scientific Researcher will be expected to:

-Analyze client requirements and objectives

-Develop computational and storage solutions

-Ensure client pipelines are developed to meet research objectives

-Work collaboratively with bioinformatics scientists and clinicians

-Support solution sales strategy and present at conferences and other opportunities. Areas of experience to include but are not limited to: personalized health, cancer, cardiovascular disease, neuroscience, infectious disease and rare disorders. The researcher will be expected to identify and support additional services for the company such as:

-Analyze genomic and clinical data

-Develop computational methods or pipelines using our platform in support of project research objectives

-Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present outcomes at scientific conferences

-Work collaboratively with other bioinformatics scientists, clinicians, and informaticians.

Skills and Experience Required:

-Experience with Linux, programming languages and open source tools used in bioinformatics

-Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

-Attention to detail and the ability to work independently within a team environment

-Experience with next generation sequencing workflow, pipeline development and analysis is highly desirable

-Experience processing unstructured data and manipulating large data sets is desirable

Education/Training/Certifications Required:

-PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field, with knowledge of Biology

-Minimum of 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
