Job Description:
Data Scientist – Python, R, Java or C++ San Ramon, Ca. 6-12 months; Contract to Hire Our direct client is looking for a Data Scientist. These are must have's, and please describe your expereince in them when you apply: 1. Team uses python and R. At least strong in one. Preferences is Python. 2. Strong analytical skills. Think through the problem and creating solutions. 3. Some programming languages – like Java, C++ - basic understanding of machine learning algorithms; - clear thinking about data analysis flow; - experience with Python/R for machine learning; - skills in model building and model improvement/fine-tuning. - PhD and 2+ years or MS and 5+ years Desired: 1. Life Sciences / Healthcare domain experience. Biology, Biochemistry – 2. Having exposure to big data - General Responsibilities: · Provide guidance to data collection teams on test protocols including design of experiments, sample size, and statistical distributions. · Design and implement data aggregation, data cleaning and data transformation. · Design and implement exploratory data analysis. · Design and implement machine learning algorithms, probabilistic algorithms, statistical algorithms etc. · Hyper parameter optimization · Demonstrate algorithms meet accuracy requirements on general subject population through statistical analyses and error estimation · Write technical reports summarizing development, analysis, training and validation of the algorithms · Provide design input specifications, requirements, and guidance to software engineers for algorithm implementation for product development The ideal candidate will have: · Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics or equivalent field with a minimum of 2 years applicable professional experience OR MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics or equivalent field with a minimum of 5 years applicable professional experience; OR a BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics or equivalent field with a great proven track record with a minimum of 8 years applicable professional experience Desired Characteristics: · Have completed graduate-level coursework in statistics · Experimental design experience · Technical proficiency in languages such as Python, R, C++, Java, etc. · Experience with medical imaging analysis leveraging deep learning methodologies using GPUs · Hands-on advanced proficiency in handling and analyzing large data sets such as medical imaging data. · Extensive experience with neural network libraries such as Caffe, Keras, Tensorflow, Torch etc. · Expertise in broader machine learning techniques · Excellent written communication, verbal communication and presentation skills are required. · Experience with big data technologies and HPC such as the Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Hbase etc.
