VL46 is seeking a computational biologist to join our expanding team as a part of our platform group. The position requires broad technical experience in computational biology, emphasizing the development of novel methods for interrogating high content ‘omics data and improvement of existing approaches. This individual will contribute scientific, technical, and leadership expertise to a multidisciplinary team, emphasizing conceptualization, experimentation, data analysis, presentation, and strategic planning. Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of new methods and algorithms to glean new biological insights from high throughput ‘omics data
- Process, analyze, interpret, and visualize high volumes of data for the development and validation of approaches
- Written and oral presentation of results to team
- Generate and support intellectual property generation for core projects
- Mentor and train research associates as needed
- Monitor and evaluate analytical aspects of new and emerging technologies
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, (bio)statistics, computer science, or a similar field
- Demonstrated experience with large-scale ‘omics and high throughput data analysis, network analysis, and meta analyses
- Skilled in programming and scripting languages (Python, R, C++, Java)
- Familiar with public domain data sources
- Experience in algorithm development and high-performance computing pipeline implementation
- Familiarity with AWS a big plus
- Strong scientific understanding of molecular biology and genomics
- Motivated, curious, execution focused, team oriented, with an ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and multidisciplinary environment
