Our IT department spans across the entire valuechain at Janssen Pharmaceuticals from discovery to after launch. This willenable the senior scientist to work with various business units to helpidentify viable data mining opportunities and then implement end to end dataanalytical solutions. There are many ways to explore and analyze data, and thisdrives the excitement and passion of data scientists at Janssen as manybusiness units are eager to leverage the data to create business value. TheSenior Scientist will be someone who stays on the cutting edge of data miningresearch by doing novel, cutting edge research to influence decisions atvarious levels in the organization. The role requires both a broad knowledge ofexisting data mining algorithms and creativity to invent and customize whennecessary. The Senior Scientist, Translational informatics will be part of adynamic, accomplished informatics team that will support multiple R&Dtherapeutic areas in the discovery and development of innovative medicines. TheSenior Scientist will partner with colleagues in research and informatics todevelop, implement, and apply state-of-the art scientific algorithms andmethods for R&D teams. Will inventand implement creative solutions that go beyond current tools to deliver bestsolutions to the problems. Willparticipate in project teams, elicit needs, and act in a primary role as atrusted primary business and scientific partner. Will lead informatics project teams inconducting user requirements analysis and deploying systems that meetresearcher’s needs. Will conceive anddesign end to end data mining solutions to support Janssen’s business units andinitiatives. M.D. orPh.D degree in Computer Sciences, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics,Computational Informatics, Medical Informatics, Statistics, ComputationalBiology or a related discipline is required. A minimumof 2 years of industry experience is required. Strongunderstanding of drug discovery and development processes is required. Hands-onexperience in full-cycle bioinformatics or cheminformatics software developmentespecially in data processing, loading, pipeline development and informaticstools integration is required. Strongworking knowledge of data mining algorithms including machine learningtechniques such as decision trees, probability networks, association rules,clustering, regression, neural networks, Bayesian models is required. Proficientwith one or more programming language such as .net, Java, Perl, C++ is preferred. Experiencedin informatics analysis and visualization software/tools such asR/Bioconductor, Pipeline Pilot, Spotfire, GenePattern, Pathway tools is preferred.
