Job Description: The Bioinformatics Portal Engineer in the department of Computational Biology develops cutting-edge web-based applications, including St. Jude PeCan (http://pecan.stjude.org) —the pediatric cancer data portal used by researchers throughout the world—as well as internal applications used for St. Jude’s groundbreaking precision medicine program. Develops novel visualizations to empower researchers to make new discoveries in cancer research. Works directly with world-class researchers at St. Jude to build novel applications and interfaces for working with integrated genomics data for a user base ranging from oncologists to bioinformatics research staff. Job Qualifications: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field is required
Master's degree is preferred
Five (5) years of internet development experienced is required.
One year of experience is acceptable with a Master's degree.
Experience in PHP, Javascript, modern Javascript frameworks, and AJAX preferred.
Experience in Object Oriented Programming preferred.
Experience in Database Design and Programming preferred.
Experience in Bioinformatics preferred
