Job Description:
The Department of Medicine, Division of Digestive & Liver Diseases at Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a Staff Associate for data analysis of large next-generation sequencing datasets. Our laboratory specializes in gastrointestinal biology, including stem cell biology and immunity, and includes a diverse team of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, technicians, undergraduates, and physician-scientists. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, organized, independent, and possess experience with the operations of a competitive research laboratory. Their time will be predominantly spent on data analysis, although some wet lab work will be performed. The Staff Associate will interact closely with lab scientists, analyze data on his/her own projects, and collaborate on other projects to provide data and bioinformatics support. Responsible for managing and storing data, analysis of next-generation sequencing data, implementation/development of bioinformatics pipelines, supervision of graduate and undergraduate researchers, and integration with the basic bench scientists. Provide ongoing contributions to various lab research projects. School/Institute/Unit**: Physicians and Surgeons, College of Minimum Degree Required**: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Minimum Qualifications**: All applicants MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered for the position. Required Qualifications**: Bachelor's degree in biology or related fields and Master's degree in Bioinformatics or related field. Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in a research laboratory, outstanding computational skills, writing skills, interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications**: Preferred Qualifications**: experience analyzing next-generation sequencing data.
