The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Microbiome Analysis Core (HMAC) in the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/hmac) is seeking a full-time Web Developer. The Web Developer will be responsible for implementation, deployment, and maintenance of a data portal for the BioBank for Microbiome Research in Massachusetts (BIOM-Mass). This will include the interface to the largest set of microbiome biospecimens and molecular data captured to date worldwide, initially comprising 25,000 metagenomes from participants in the Nurses Health Study II cohort.

The Web Developer will work with existing Core developers, the Core Director (Dr. Galeb Abu-Ali), the Huttenhower lab, and the BIOM-Mass steering and scientific teams to deploy the data portal over the next several years. This will include research and industry access to the molecular data and specimen-associated metadata describing the microbiome in cohort participants, and building on data portal frameworks developed by the group for the Human Microbiome Project (http://ibdmdb.org) and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Microbiome Initiative. The Web Developer will deploy and maintain the data portal, perform data curation and distribution, program scientific workflows, and perform system administration. S/he will report to Dr. Huttenhower (who leads a lab of 25 at SPH and the Broad Institute) and will be part of the greater HMAC team – working with a diverse research team (of faculty, postdocs, and students) for collaborative studies of the microbiome and computational metagenomics.

Hardware and lower-level systems administration will be provided by the Harvard Research Computing team.
