Job Description:
We invite applications from candidates working in all foundational and translational areas of a broadly defined bioinformatics. Candidates may propose research programs with a significant clinical and/or experimental component; but, successful candidates will distinguish themselves by proposing a disruptive research program that rests on innovation in computational approaches.Appointment rank will be commensurate with academicaccomplishments and experience.Generous startup packages and research space will be available through department resources and/or co-recruitment with other UTSW departments as well as through the Endowed Scholars Program, if applicable: (http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/education/programs/nondegree-programs/other-programs/endowed-scholars/index.html).

To apply: Candidates must have a Ph.D. and should submit a 1-page letter of interest, a NIH-formatted biosketch including the sections Personal Statement and Contributions to Science and followed by a complete list of publications, a 3-page research statement, and three letters of reference.

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) has recently launched a fully philanthropically funded Department of Bioinformatics with a scientific focus on the integrative computational analysis and modeling of complex biomedical processes in high-dimensional and multi-modal data sets. The program is driven under the premise that bioinformatics in its core is a pattern recognition problem whose solution builds on computational theory and algorithms that are sharable across all biomedical data types and research applications. Accordingly, the Department will have a faculty that tackles fundamental questions in computer science while effectively translating the results into high-impact basic and clinical research.
