The successful candidate will have a degree and experience as a Bioinformatician or Computational Biologist. Knowledge of a range of bioinformatics tools should be sufficient to provide support and training. Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Perl and R is expected, while programming abilities in other languages e.g. SQL, JAVASCRIPT and HTML could be an advantage. Familiarity with UNIX-based OSes is also desirable. The candidate should have prior experience of working at the interface between biology and computation. Bioinformatician to work on developing new search and web interfaces for genetic variation resources. The applicant can expect, if appointed, to work on integrating Elasticsearch/Solr search technologies with existing Ensembl web components for data visualisation, and developing novel data visualisation tools for sample and variation data.
