Postdoctoral or Research Fellow/Staff Scientist Humoral Immune Response to HIV-1 HIV-Specific Immunity Section Laboratory of Immunoregulation National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) National Institutes of Health (NIH) Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Bethesda, MD, USA Mark Connors, M.D., Chief A position is open for the study of the antibody response to HIV. Specific interests of the laboratory include understanding the mechanisms that underlie broad neutralization of HIV and paths to inducing broad and durable antibody responses in humans. The laboratory uses a variety of techniques to understand the basis of a broad and potent HIV-specific response. These include isolation of human monoclonal antibodies and detailed studies of their mechanism of action. Induction of virus-specific antibodies in humans and animals is also an area of primary interest. Studies of molecular structure and antibody evolution are carried out in collaboration with investigators at the Vaccine Research Center. The person selected will work in a very fast moving field, with generous research support, access to cutting-edge facilities, and two post-baccalaureate students. A person selected at the postdoctoral or research fellow level could advance to a staff scientist position. Candidates should have a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D., as well as a strong record of research experience and productivity. Expertise in B-cell immunology, flow cytometry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics would be a plus. [More]
