Job Role: Postdoc
The research group “Junction of Statistics and Biology” led by Professor Jingyi Jessica Li in the Department of Statistics at UCLA invites applications for a postdoctoral position, available from November 2016. The research in the group focuses on developing statistical methods to address important biological and biomedical questions from high-throughput genetic and genomic data. Our current projects include: modeling bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing data for identifying and quantifying full-length mRNA transcripts, systematic identification of gene-gene and protein-DNA relationships using diverse genomic data, large-scale comparison of biological samples from different species using epigenomic and transcriptomic data, and statistical methodology development motivated by genomic applications (e.g., asymmetric error control in binary classification, high-dimensional variable selection, and measures of dependence). The ICB is actively seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct research on bioinformatics and synthetic biology projects, primarily focused on studies of the microbiome and bacteriophages, under the mentorship of Dr. Irene Chen. Postdoctoral Scholar appointments are intended to provide a full-time training program of advanced academic preparation and research training under the mentorship of a faculty member. [More]
We are seeking two postdoctoral fellows to conduct bioinformatics research on complex human pathologies, including Alzheimer´s disease, in the frame of the ERC funded project SysPharmAD. The main objective of the project is the identification of novel biomarkers in complex pathologies that correlate with clinical outcomes, to monitor the onset and progression of the pathology from very early stages, and to discover combinations of drug targets and chemical compounds able to modify the biology of the disease. We are seeking a creative and motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our lab within the Section of Computational Biomedicine, Department of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine, and participate in our active research program aimed at using genomic approaches to understand the biology of premalignant lung disease. Current areas of interest include using high-throughput sequencing technology to discover gene and small RNA expression changes and alterative splicing events that are associated with progression/regression of premalignant lesions.
