Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic bioinformatician with academic and/or industry experience to join our lupus biomarkers team. Our team will identify biomarkers and biological mechanisms using multidimensional data sets to support patient stratification of current and future lupus assets and to identify potential targets and novel disease classifying biomarkers. We are accumulating RNASeq, epigenetic and proteomic datasets using blood and tissue samples from lupus patients and healthy controls. One goal of this work is to integrate all these datasets to generate a more comprehensive and patient-centric understanding of Lupus. The successful candidate will have access to cutting edge methodology and technologies (e.g. machine learning, topological network analysis, cloud computing) to analyze the data and will have an opportunity to play an active role in identifying and progressing new therapies for patients suffering from Lupus. This role will be key in supporting our precision medicine strategy that we are implementing for this heterogeneous disease. Additional responsibilities include: -Manage and establish collaborations with key external partners such as research groups in Academia, biotech or contracted research and will be encourage to publish -Work in a very dynamic environment, and will interact intimately with scientists from Immunology Biomarkers, Immunology Discovery, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs and Commercial gaining vast expertise in the pharmaceutical industry. Qualifications:
- BS in Bioinformatics or similar discipline with at least 12 years of experience in Computational Biology, Immunology, Statistics, and Network Pharmacology / Systems Biology OR a MS in Bioinformatics or similar discipline with at least 6 years of experience in Computational Biology, Immunology, Statistics, and Network Pharmacology / Systems Biology OR a PhD in Bioinformatics or similar discipline with expertise in Computational Biology, Immunology, Statistics, and Network Pharmacology / Systems Biology is required
- Significant experience with high content data analysis, such as RNAseq, and proteomic data is required
- Experience with cell-free DNA analysis, epigenetics and whole genome sequencing is preferred
- Experience with human translational research, clinical trial metadata, and experience with predictive models and diagnostics as well as experience with Lupus dataset is preferred
- The candidate should have expertise in data QC as they will closely interface with lab personnel to ensure efficient flow of data and understanding of experiments to maximize efficiency
- Proficiency in standard analytical platforms (eg: R) is required; (eg: Bioconductor, Matlab) is preferred and programming (eg: Python, C++) is required
- Experience with Gene Set Enrichment and pathway analysis software tools (e.g.GSEA/GSVA, Thomson-Reuters GeneGo, Ingenuity, Cytoscape, etc.) is preferred
- Expertise in predictive algorithms (machine learning) and experience in biomarker discovery and/or co-diagnostic development for pharmaceutical applications is preferred
