We are seeking a dynamic individual who will be responsible, as a member of a team, for supporting research efforts by developing script and compute infrastructure to serve the needs of scientists. Expertise will be applied to answer a variety of key biological questions exploring molecular abnormalities, hematological diseases and cancer.

The candidate is expected to contribute to all aspects of the sequence analysis systems including:

• developing a database and management system including UI, web applications/interfaces.

• developing/helping with computational pipelines in collaboration with the researchers to automate bioinformatics analyses and machine learning tasks.

• execute integrative analyses of large datasets generated from clinical and functional genomic data from in-house experiments and/or available public repositories.

These efforts include working with HTML/Javascript, Python, R, Java/C++ and variety of internally and externally developed software.

The work will be performed under the supervision of Dr. Cem Meydan, Dr. Christopher Mason and Dr. Ari Melnick and with staff in the Institute for Computational Biomedicine, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology and Cancer Center. The applicant would join a thriving and highly interactive research team including computational biologists, cancer biologists, and hematopathologists.

We are recruiting applicants with the following qualifications and expertise:

• Experience with C++/C# or Java.

• Experience with data management and organization.

• Experience building parallel analysis pipelines and cloud-based compute infrastructure.

• Experience working with next-generation sequencing data and familiarity with bioinformatics, potentially. including: trancriptomic and epigenomics data analysis, comparative genomics, SNP and CNV analysis, phylogenetic analysis, and an understanding of emerging and commonly used bioinformatics tools.

There will be opportunities for training to complement current skills, and we envision numerous collaborations with other outstanding computational scientists at the Institute for Computational Biomedicine. Good relational and communication skills are highly desirable. Appointments are for one year, with renewal based upon satisfactory performance and funding availability.
